Chef/Owner Ris Lacoste is a 2023 James Beard Award semi-finalist for Outstanding Restaurant
January 2023Kudos to chef Ris Lacoste for making the James Beard Award semi-finalist list for Outstanding Restaurants! Finalists will be announced on Wednesday, March 29, and winners will be celebrated at the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards Ceremony on Monday, June 5, 2023, at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
Ris is one of the most respected and dedicated chefs working in Washington D.C. today. She has earned her reputation built upon high-quality ingredients, bold innovative technique, and food that is both familiar and simply delicious. She is also well known for her commitment to community involvement. She actively participates in many fundraising efforts in the District and is a talented educator committed to young people. Her kitchen is filled with passionate students learning their craft. She has been a member of IWF-DC since 1999.
The James Beard Foundation's Restaurant and Chef Awards--established in 1990 and first awarded in 1991--are one of five separate recognition programs of the Awards. The 2023 Restaurant and Chef Semifinalists are recognized across 23 categories, including the new Award for Outstanding Bakery.
